“The Sea”

I’m in love with the ocean, she said

And the sea-salty air

I feel love in the wind

And how the breeze lifts my hair

I am grounded in love with the sand

As it wraps around my toes

The seashells scattered on the beach

Leaving behind love stories; pieces of poetry and prose

I am calmed by love with the moon

As it glistens over a quiet sea

I know this is true love

Because it’s where I know I’m home; where I’m meant to be

“Sailing”

I feel restful and at peace, he said

When I’m surrounded by the sea

I am excited about the adventures unknown

And feel guided by the sails above me

The sea brings me a sense of calmness

As if I’m gliding through the air

I am grounded in this wooden vessel

Sailing along without a care

This must be love, real love

I feel this place is home

And my love and I will sail along

Sharing stories from our hearts as we roam

“Break Them All”

Looking across the room the lines got deeper, the cracks about to form

But Hers was already broken, in the center of it all looked like a perfectly orchestrated storm

It took years to shatter that glass, creating hairline fractures after winning each major race

She couldn’t use a hammer or any type of force. She did it with vigor, style, humor, and grace

And as she stood surrounded by broken glass, she started to smile

The women in the room looked up at their cracks, wondering if this was going to take a while.

‘You can do it, she told the others, “you have all the tools’”

“‘It’s now time for me to leave, and it’s up to you all now to make the new rules.’

The women nodded in agreement, many excited, yet some were scared to fall.

How many glass ceilings should we shatter? They asked

She stopped short of the exit, turned around, and whispered, “break them all.”
